Reply from cgracia on Mar 9 at 8:34 PM DS, Oracle had sent us the same response and it now works in our (M Sheikh and I) environment. Once I did that and bounced our servers and deleted cache, I was able to log in with LDAP. This was a huge relief as we were seriously contemplating on downgrading back to 8.51.16.
