Reply from rjngh2005 on Apr 15 at 12:59 AM well...I am using E-Business Suite and we were asked to move to Oracle 10g so....Yes oracle 9 has been desupported what this means...No more patches and if you encounter an issue they will try to help you if you have a support contract but they will not do any development. There are still some people using Oracle 8 - One big example is a huge pharmaceutical company that I know (dont want to name them) they have to maintain records for 7 years about any drug... so they have some data in Oracle 8 which was supported by some software and now all they are doing is running reports on the data. The drug testing and stuff is all done...so...they do not want to upgrade the software and hence the oracle 8 They are using so many different software that I would say they have 5-10 percent in Oracle 8 out of the hundreds of Oracle instances and since Oracle 9 has been extensively used I am sure you will not encounter a bug...provided you use the recommended server operating system The moment you try to use a modern Operating system....all bets are off !

Standalone 9i is long desupported. Status is currently 'withdrawn' unless you are using bundled with another product such as E-Business Suite. | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | _.____.__ |
