Reply from johnsondnl on Aug 7 at 3:48 PM I never could understand the approach that 'we want the best solution for us but we're only looking at one vendor' approach. When I go to buy any single thing in my entire life I always consider multiple vendors. Even if my best friend in world says 'hey Dan everybody in the world who does what you do uses X' I still research multiple options. So I have to ask - why only one vendor? I read an independent study on ERP implementations that shed an interesting light on SAP relative to the number of times it's shortlisted versus how many times it is selected and the overall satisfaction rates of those companies that try to implement it. Maybe it's carry over from those "The best run companies..." ad's I see in the airport. You say you need strong Financials, MM, SD (after 15 years in the industry I don't know what that is) and production. Have you considered that the answer may not be from the one vendor you're looking at? Anyway, if you have been mandated that you can only use SAP then the answer is still whichever one meets your functional and budgetary requirements best. B1 can give you some of what you need but can it give you everything? Only your company can decide that. I wouldn't take the word of someone whose job it is to sell software to make that decision for you. As for the cost of an implementation of any solution, that's like asking how high is up. It all depends on what you need and how well the platform fits your business requirements out of the gate. DJ?

We are from footware industries with 4 manufacturing units in INDIA. Recently we are looking for SAP. But which product will suitable for us? We need strong FINANCIAL solution. We need strong MM solution We need strong SD solution We need strong PRODUCTION solution. Some vendor suggesting for B1. Can B1 give us above solution properly? And what would be the cost of R/3 (SAP apparel and footwear solution)? | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | In the Spotlight Become a blogger at Toolbox.com and share your expertise with the community.
