Reply from SteveFLHSMV on Jan 16 at 7:16 PM I somehow overlooked the possibility that you are getting this error because SQL (as opposed to SQL Plus) balks at SELECT * when there is a LONG RAW. What Oracle release are you using? LONG and its variations were replaced by the various LOBs many years ago, so you either have a very old Oracle release or a very old table that never got converted. You mentioned SAP, so perhaps the SAP version is old or using outdated datatypes.
If you are using SQL Plus, perhaps you are failing after 35145 rows because the next row exceeds your SQL Plus LONG parameter. I believe 32767 is the largest allowable setting, so if you have larger rows or the setting is already 32767, this may not help.

When executing a select * from from <table_name>;
Note <table_name> has a long raw column and is 26 gigs in size.
The following error displays
ERROR:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
35145 rows selected. (stops at this row number and there's over 1 million rows).
The table doesn't appear to be corrupted as the analyze table <table_name> validate structure cascade works successfully along with running the dbms_repair utility which display 0 corruption.
I'm not able to successfully export this table due to this error. I dropped the index thinking that I could rebuild the index but I'm unable to rebuild the index as the ORA-03113 error displays. |
