In KS02 if you are unable to change it then go to cost center group OKEON.
Click on cost center for which you want to change the validity period.
In Basic data tab you have button Validity period. Click on that and change
the validity period there.
When you say enter after entering the validity period you may get that the
cost center is inactive status but when you click on save button
automatically the cost center becomes active.
Then go and check the validity period in KS02. It will be changed.

Sharad is absolutely right.
If you have already created the cost center, then you have to go into
change mode ( KS02).
Under the Edit menu > Analysis Period, you can use OTHER PERIOD wherein the
dates can be changed. I do not think there would be a need for you to
change the description of the cost center.
